In the first quarter of 2019, Changzhou's foreign trade development was steady and rising. From January to March, the city's total import and export volume reached 53.88 billion yuan, an increase of 3.5% year-on-year. The import and export of self-operated production enterprises accounted for 40.9% of the city's import and export, an increase of 5.1 percentage points over the same period of the previous year, and the city's foreign trade increased by 6.5 percentage points.

From January to March, Changzhou's export growth rate was 2.6 and 3.2 percentage points higher than the provincial and national average.
